Hello! I'm so grateful to find you here on The Maryn, and I’m excited to share this heartfelt (and overdue) update with you.
When I launched The Maryn as an e-commerce shop in 2016, my dream was to shine a spotlight on artists and makers doing extraordinary work, and to make their wares accessible to my customers. I drew upon my years of editorial experience to curate a meaningful collection, and imported my coolest finds from around the globe to my humble little warehouse in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
As time passed, the challenges of e-commerce made it clear that we would need to find clever and inspiring ways to bring eyeballs to the shop, which led me to relaunch The Maryn as the editorial site that you're reading now. Our team spent the summer of 2018 traveling the US and France to photograph the people and places that inspire us most. We published those stories over the course of five months, beginning last fall and continuing through early spring, but we found ourselves at a standstill once the shop finally closed.
I've been stunned and grateful as The Maryn's Instagram following has continued to grow, despite my lack of posting, and I have lovingly agonized over how best to carry this forward. My goal with today's post is to simply thank you for your continued support, and to let you know that I do intend to keep The Maryn alive! It is an ongoing personal project that will continue to evolve. At the moment, you can expect to find personal dispatches from me, cool product roundups, and expert advice from many of my amazingly talented friends.
I'm also taking photography classes. (Hey, you gotta start somewhere!) That way, one day soon, I will be able to properly document my adventures for you, too.
Thank you, and onwards!
